     Capture the feel of snow on alpine skis or snowboards mixed with winter fun in the midst of the Smokies.  The Smoky Mountain Snow Sport School offers a wide range of lessons and programs for individuals, special-interest groups, and schools.  Our certified teachers continually train to remain up-to-date with the latest teaching techniques and equipment.

      A must for all those who learn to need the basics.  Entry level group lessons are approximately 1 hour long.  The learner will be introduced to the proper use of equipment, develop the skills necessary to balance, change direction, stop, and be instructed on where to ski.

     Daily Class Times:  Classes are continuous with a maximum waiting period of approximately 30-45 minutes during normal operating hours.

     Snowboarding!  A new challenge!  Entry level snowboard lessons are approximately 1 hour long.  The learner will be introduced to the proper use of equipment, stance, and develop the skills necessary to glide, balance, stop, and be instructed on where to snowboard.

     Share your experience of skiing with your child!  Entry level group lessons for children ages 4 to 8 years of age are approximately 1 hour long.  Children learn to enjoy their first snow experience at their own pace.

     Class Times:  Depends upon number of children available and are subject to cancllation due to weather or slope conditions.

     You may purchase private lesson tickets at the school information booth inside the mall or slope-side at the snow-sport school building.  Reservations are not necessary.

     Get the most out of a personal coach during an intensive 2 hours of skiing or snowboarding training.  This program is developed for families or special interest groups that are looking for a challenge and personal achievement.

     Smoky Mountain Snow Sport School offers 4 & 5 week programs and single day programs for organized church groups, primary and middle schools, high school and colleges for credit and non-credit.  Boy Scout and Girl Scout or special interest groups, we tailor the program to your needs.  Our program meets and exceeds the state's requirements for physical education credit.  Our program is designed for all ability levels in both alpine and snowboarding.  Special rates apply.  Contact Smoky Mountain Snow School for more information.

     Smoky Mountain Snow Sport School operates at Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and is subject to the areas operating times and slope conditions.  Last class of the day: 30 minutes after ticket sales close.

     Choose proper clothing according to the weather: Layer clothing for maximum comfort.  Wear water-resistant clothes, study ski-type gloves or mittens, and one pair of wool of moisture-wicking type socks are essential.

     Protection from the sun and snow.  Eye-wear, sunglasses or goggles can greatly add to your comfort and performance.  Wear sunscreen and lip protection to further protect against the weather.

     Check our slope conditions and weather reports!  Knowing what to expect from the weather can help prepare you for a wonderful experience.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS:

     A secure child is a happy child!  Children should be informed where their parents will be during the time of their lessons.  They should also be fed, well rested, and properly clothed.  Skiing and snowboarding provide children with life experiences.  Exploration of the exciting mountain environment will give your child new skills, understanding, and adventure which will last for a lifetime!
